Baylor Ranks In Top 25 for USA Swimming Club Excellence Program for the 2009 swim season!

What exciting news! The Baylor Swim Club has been awarded by United States Swimming the distinction as being the 25th nationally ranked swim club in the USA Swimming Club Excellence program for the 2009 swimming season! This is the fifth year that the Baylor Swim Club has received  the Silver Medal distinction.

What exactly does this mean? This means that Baylor Swim Club is recognized as one of the top clubs in the country based on organizational professionalism and athletic performance. To qualify for this award, Baylor had to submit an extensive report to United States Swimming, documenting club professionalism as well as both national and world-class performance.

Baylor Swim Club had a great performance scoring 17,778 points, ranking second in Southeastern Swimming, and ranking Baylor in the top 25 nationally for the second year in a row. Baylor is the smallest club based on membership to rank in the top 40 among the over 1000 clubs that participated.

Congratulations to the following Baylor Swim Club athletes for contributing to the performance component of the Baylor swim Club total score: Christian Carbone, Alison Lusk, Savannah Napier, Arden Pitman, Brett Roberson, Greg Roop, Spencer Rowe, Reese Shirey, Troy Tillman and Nathan Vredeveld

The purpose of this program is to:

  • Promote the development of comprehensive age group and senior swimming programs.
  • Provide ways which USA Swimming can better assist, encourage, and motivate our member clubs to strive for the highest ideals of development and performance and,
  • Encourage USA Swimming’s most successful professional coaches to become leaders in the sport through involvement in local and national governance.
  • This program’s goal is to embrace leadership and excellence in USA Swimming’s top member clubs. It identifies resources necessary for funding and support and recognizes the development system as integral to achieving excellence.
  • As a result of this, Baylor Swim Club is able to use the “Silver Medal Club” designation through 2010-2011 season and has received grant assistance from USA Swimming for program enhancement. The Baylor Swim Club will be using the grant money for equipment to continue to develop the swim club and its programs.

Everyone in the Baylor Swim Club family, from the swimmers, to the parents, to our alumni should be very proud of this award. It is a testament to all the hard work, effort and commitment our club
