Three Baylor Swimmers to Compete in Zone Championships

ATLANTA, GA- Three Baylor Swim Club members will compete in the 2010 Southern Zone Swimming Championships held this week at the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center. Rising Baylor Junior Christian Carbone, rising Baylor Freshman Sam McHugh, and rising Baylor Senior Savannah Napier will represent Southeastern Swimming at the Zone Championships. These three swimmers earned their spot on the Southeastern team based on their outstanding performances at the Southern Sectional and Southeastern Swimming championships the past two weeks.

Carbone and Napier will be returning to defend their 2009 zone titles in the 400 individual medley, while this will be the first time McHugh has ever made the team. Carbone and Napier won the high point award for the 15-18 age group, while McHugh placed in the top three in five events at Southeastern Championships.

“This meet has been an awesome spring board to national success for out program over the past four years,” said Baylor Swimming Head Coach Dan Flack. “Our swimmers have progressed on to represent the United States and qualify for the national championships after attending this competition, so we are excited for Savannah, Sam, and Christian.”
