ATLANTA, GA– On the first weekend of March (March 1-3), the Baylor Swim Club sent 38 athletes to compete in the 2024 Speedo Southern Premier Championships held at the McAuley Aquatic Center Competition Pool in Atlanta, Georgia. This is also where the 1996 Olympic Games were held. This meet featured some of the best club teams from states in the southeastern region, such as: Dynamo Swim Club, Lakeside Swim Team, Nashville Aquatic Club, etc.
The meet couldn’t have went off with a better start on Thursday, Feb. 29, at the Dynamo Swim Club location in Chamblee, Georgia. Auburn commit, Luke Waldrep, swam the 400 IM for a timeĀ trial and achieved the Olympic Trial Cut with a time of 4:23.39. This time currently ranks Waldrep as the 2nd fastest 17 year old nationally. Other honorable mentions in the senior group go to Elijah Holliman for clocking in a time of 2:03.49 in the 200 Breast (getting 4th), and Avery May for going a 1:02.93 in the 100 Breast (also getting 4th).
Over on the age group side, Anara Summers, Lily Vicknair, and Eli Summers all achieved multiple top 8 finishes. Anara Summers broke her own 13-14 club record in the 200 Fly with a time of 2:06.63, currently ranking her 48th nationally and 4th in the Southeast for the 14 year old age group. Anara also swam her way to top 100 ranks nationally in multiple events – such as the 200 Free and 200 IM. Lily Vicknair also had herself an outstanding meet, winning the 50 Breast for the second year in a row, while being at the bottom of her age group at 11 years old, clocking in at 32.28 – this time currently ranks Lily 10th nationally and 1st in the Southeast for the 11 year old age group. She currently ranks 1st in Southeastern swimming in the 100 Breast as well. Lily also currently ranks in the top 50 nationally in the 100 Breast and 100 IM.
