COLORADO SPRINGS, CO– On Tuesday, January 21, USA Swimming announced the honorees for the fourth-annual 18 & Under World 100, recognizing many of the nation’s top up-and-coming swimmers for their performances in 2019. This year Baylor Swim Club athletes Cecilia Porter, Ellie Waldrep, and alumni Addison Smith made the list.

Baylor Swim Club / Baylor School alumni Addison Smith was named to the 18 & Under World 100 program ranked 44th in the 200 butterfly, 47th in the 800 freestyle, 51st in the 200 freestyle, 52nd in the 400 freestyle, 65th, and 66th in the 200 and 400 IM events. Smith is currently a freshman swimming at Princeton University.
Junior, Ellie Waldrep was also named to the 2019 18 & Under World 100 list. She was ranked 50th in the 100 backstroke and 62nd in the 200 backstroke event. Teammate Cecilia Porter was named to the list placing 47th in the 100 breaststroke.
The Baylor Swim Club has had an athlete make the 18 & Under World 100 list in each of the four years of the program. The previous three years of the 18 & Under World 100 program (2016, 2017, & 2018) Baylor standout Trey Freeman made the list. Freeman is currently a sophomore swimming at the University of Florida.
The 18 & Under World 100 is a ranking of the best 18 & Under swimmers in the U.S., according to their 18 & Under, Age-Defined World Ranking according to USA Swimming. The goal of the program is to acknowledge the excellence achieved by our best 18 & Under athletes, their coaches who lead them and their clubs who support them. The athlete must be a registered USA Swimming member at the time of the qualifying performance and must be eligible to represent the U.S. in International competition as of September 1, 2018. The athlete must be 18 or under on September 1, 2018 (born on, or after, September 2, 1999).
