GREENSBORO, NC- Baylor School / Baylor Swim Club alumni and current University of Florida athlete Trey Freeman secured his space over the weekend as a member of Team USA and will compete at the 2022 FINA World Championships. Freeman was competing at the 2022 USA Swimming International Team Trials held April 26-30 at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, NC. In the 400-meter freestyle, Freeman made an epic comeback to claim second in the event and earn his spot as a member of Team USA. He finished just behind 2020 Tokyo Olympic bronze medalist Kieran Smith clocking a time of 3:46.93.
Freeman also had an outstanding swim in the 200-meter freestyle swimming to a sixth-place finish and a new personal best time of 1:46.93. In order to represent Team USA at the FINA World Championships athletes needed to finish either first or second in an individual event at the 2022 International Team Trials. He will compete as a member of Team USA at the 2022 FINA World Championships, June 18-25 in Budapest, Hungary this summer.
Trey Freeman stands as one of the most decorated athletes and swimmers in Baylor School history. During his time at Baylor, he was a member of the USA Swimming National Team, National Junior Team, a NISCA All-American, a TISCA State Champion, and still holds multiple school records.
