April 26, 2025 — Over 350 swimmers came together in Fort Myers, Florida to compete in the Southern Zone Open Water race. The 12 & Under age group competed in the 2K race while the 15 & Over age groups competed in the 5K race. Mitchell Maedel (Baylor Varsity) and Wyeth Carle (Baylor Swim Club) were selected by Southeastern Swimming to represent our LSC (local swim committee). This LSC goes to compete 14 other LSC in the Southern Zone – including North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, and more.
Maedel, a sophomore for Baylor School, competed in the 4x300m relay (finishing in 10th with a time of 1:13.10 – scoring team points for Southeastern Swimming) and the 5K (finishing in 48th with a time of 1:22.25) for the 15-16 age group. Carle, a junior on the Baylor Swim Club, competed in the 5K race (finishing in 10th – scoring individual points for Southeastern Swimming) for the 15-16 age group.
