What exciting news! The Baylor Swim Club has been awarded by United States Swimming the distinction of being a nationally ranked Silver Medal swim club in the USA Swimming Club of Excellence program for the 2019 swimming season!
What exactly does this mean? This means that Baylor Swim Club is recognized as one of the top clubs in the country based on organizational professionalism and athletic performance. To qualify for this award, Baylor had to submit an extensive report to United States Swimming, documenting club professionalism as well as both national and world-class performance.
Baylor Swim Club had a great performance in 2019 scoring 11,309 points, which is 4,000 more points than the total in 2018. The Baylor Swim Club is the only one in the Greater Chattanooga Area to earn this honor and has been a Silver or Bronze medal club for ten out of the last eleven years. Baylor also ranks 2nd out of all teams in the Southeastern Swimming LSC, finishing behind Gold Medal Club, Nashville Aquatic Club. The Baylor Swim Club has been recognized as a Silver Medal Club in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2018, and 2019. The club has also claimed Bronze Medal status in 2008, 2015, 2016, and 2017.
“To be a Silver Medal and a United States Swimming Top 50 ranked club is a tremendous honor, one in which the entire club should be super proud. I am really pleased that all the athletes posting scoring times represented all four competitive strokes as well as five different distances. This goes hand in hand with our club philosophy of overall skill development at the young ages leading to more specific and individual skills that lead to high level performance,” said Head Coach Dan Flack.
