NASHVILLE, TN- On Friday and Saturday, February 11-12 the Baylor School has won the combined, girls, and boys 2022 TISCA State Swimming & Diving Championships. This is the third consecutive year that the Baylor School has swept all three championships. It is the seventeenth year in a row that the Baylor School has won the combined team title, while the girls claimed their fourth state title in a row with a victory over the Girls Preparatory School. The Baylor School boys won their third consecutive state title in a tough battle over McCallie.

The Baylor School had some fantastic swims on Saturday. Sam Flack and Josean Massucco raced to a one-two finish in the 500-yard freestyle. Flack won the TISCA State title in an Automatic All-American time of 4:25.46. Teammate Josean Massucco claimed silver finishing just behind Flack in All-American time of 4:25.77. The boys 400-yard Freestyle Relay of Caden Fritz, Josean Massucco, Sam Flack, and Drew Hitchcock blasted an All-American time of 3:03.39 to take the championship. Both the girls (Madelyn Yates, Maddie Sugden, Caroline Schenck, and Ellie Lydon) and boys (Owen Seymour, Will Taylor, Sam Flack, and Drew Hitchcock) 200-yard freestyle relays finished second to seal the state championships for the Baylor School.
Senior Charlie Han finished as the TISCA State Champion in the boys 100-meter breaststroke. His time of 56.84 earned him a NISCA All-American consideration time. Baylor continued with some great distance swims in the girls 500-yard freestyle. Lille Boggs swam to a second-place finish and an All-American consideration time of 4:56.75. Representing Signal Mountain and Baylor Swim Club athlete Avery May had an impressive swim to take third overall in the 500-yard free.

The highlight of the meet on Friday came from the Girls 200-yard Medley Relay of Genevieve O’Neil, Lillie Boggs, Madelyn Yates, and Caroline Schenck swimming a time of 1:43.07. They finished with a state title and a NISCA Automatic All-American time. The Baylor School boys 200-yard Medley Relay of Caden Fritz, Charlie Han, Josean Massucco, and Owen Seymour claimed second in a NISCA Automatic All-American time of 1:31.11.
Sophomore, Drew Hitchcock claimed the TISCA State Title in the Boys 2oo-yard IM, recording a NISCA Automatic All-American time of 1:48.03. Teammate Sam Flack achieved All-American Consideration with a third-place finish in the 200 IM clocking a time of 1:53.53. The Baylor boys finished second and third in the 100-yard butterfly. Drew Hitchcock claimed second swimming an All-American time of 47.82, while Josean Massucco was All-American Consideration clocking a time of 49.07. In the girl’s 1-meter diving competition, Claire Ellish finished third overall with a score of 350.90, while teammate Julia Kaufman took sixth with a score of 277.00.
