Indianapolis, IN — on June 18th, Drew Hitchcock clocked a 1:57.41 in the 200m Butterfly at the U.S. Olympic Trials. Drew not only made a mark by achieving the best time in Baylor’s history, but also by being the first Baylor athlete to advanced to a semifinal at a U.S. Olympic Trial. Drew qualified 10th in the prelims session, and finished 14th overall in the semifinal session later that evening.
Baylor has a rich history of swimmers who have competed at the U.S. Olympic Trials, but it is only Baylor alumni who have advanced to either semifinal, final, or make the U.S. Olympic Team. Such alumni include Trey Freeman, Stephanie Napier, and Geoff Gaberino (who, interestingly enough, are all University of Florida grads).
