LIMA, PERU- This past week, August 30-September 4, Baylor School / Baylor Swim Club athlete Josean Massucco represented his home country of Puerto Rico at the 2022 FINA World Junior Championships. The competition was held at the VIDENA Aquatic Center in Lima, Peru. This is the premier swimming competition for 18 & Under athletes from all over the world. Massucco’s best races from the meet came in both the 200-meter butterfly and the 400-meter freestyle events. He finished ninth overall in the 200-meter butterfly (2:02.67) and took 15th in the 400-meter freestyle (4:01.75), which are both new personal best times.
Massucco also finished 15th in the 1500-meter freestyle (16:33.44), 16th in the 800-meter freestyle (8:35.31), and 21st in the 200-meter freestyle (1:54.74).
He secured his selection to the FINA World Junior Championships with his performance at the 2022 CCCAN Championships this summer. Massucco took first place in the 15-17 age group in the 1500-meter freestyle, 800-meter freestyle, 200-meter butterfly, and 400-meter freestyle.
