Baylor Gets the 2023 Long Course Season Off to Fast Start at Arena Invitational
CHATTANOOGA, TN– This past weekend May 1-5, the Baylor Swim Club hosted and competed in the 2023 Arena Long Course Invitational held at the Baylor School Natatorium. Baylor had over 100 athletes participate in the two-and-a-half-day meet. Over 300 swimmers from the Knoxville, Nashville, Middle Tennessee, and North Georgia areas competed in the swim meet. Special congratulations to all the Baylor Swim Club athletes that participated in meet, and thank you to all the parents that volunteered their time this past weekend!

Baylor Swimming Celebrates Four Senior Athletes Making College Commitments
CHATTANOOGA, TN– On Friday, April 28th the Baylor Swimming program celebrated five seniors and their college commitments to continue their swimming careers. Congratulations to Lucas Chacon (Washington & Lee University), Charlotte Murphree (Trinity College), Cullen Roberts (Centre College), and Will Taylor (University of Alabama). The Baylor Swimming family is so proud of each one of these student-athletes, and best of luck in college in the fall of 2023.

Rudy Aguilar Joins Baylor Swimming as New Assistant Coach
Baylor School / Baylor Swim Club is pleased to announce that Rudy Aguilar, volunteer assistant swim coach for the University of Alabama, has been named an assistant coach for the Upper School and the lead coach for the senior level group of the Baylor Swim Club!! He joins Head Coach / Director of Competitive Swimming Payton Brooks, and veteran Baylor swimming and swim club coaches Laura Pitman and Brian Gill.
“Rudy is an exceptional addition to the Swimming and Diving staff at Baylor School. He has an unmatched passion and enthusiasm for the sport – his energy, fresh perspective, and knowledge as both an athlete and coach are exactly what we were looking for in our search,” said varsity swim coach Payton Brooks. “He embodies the core values and vision we have at Baylor School, and we look forward to welcoming him to Chattanooga as we continue building upon the rich traditions of our program.”

June Swimming Lessons Schedule Now Available
The 2023 JUNE Group Swimming Lessons schedule and online registration dates are now available. This summer (June & July) ALL group swimming lessons will be held at the Wilson Activity Center outdoor pool. Beginner, Advanced Beginner, and Pre-Swim Team classes will all be offered this summer. This pool is nestled on the Tennessee River and is located between the Ireland Studio Arts Center and the Music Building.
Private and semi-private swimming lessons are also now available in the month of June.

Spring Stroke Clinic Information
Join Head Coach and Director of Competitive Swimming, Payton Brooks, for a 4-session Spring Stroke Clinic:
All sessions are for ages 6-18 and will be held from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM with a single-stroke focus working on stroke technique, starts, and turns.
Athletes will receive instruction and advice that Coach Brooks has implemented with World-Class Athletes throughout his career from professional swimmers preparing for the Olympic Games, to Division I Athletes, and now with our own Red Raiders!
This camp is ideal for swimmers preparing for summer league competition.
Team Records Fall, Hitchcock & Vicknair Lead Baylor at 2023 Speedo Southern Premier
NASHVILLE, TN- This past weekend (March 3-5) the Baylor Swim Club sent over forty athletes to compete in the 2023 Speedo Southern Premier Championships held at the Centennial Sportsplex- Tracy Caulkins Competition Pool in Nashville, TN. The meet featured over 500 of the top age group swimmers from the states of Tennessee, Georgia, Kentucky, and Texas.
Leading the way for the Baylor Swim Club, were some big-time performances from seventeen-year-old Drew Hitchcock. He finished first in the 200-year IM and 200-yard butterfly while taking second in the 400 IM. His time of 3:41.81 is good for the 4th fastest time ever for a 17-year-old male, and 12th all-time for the 17-18-year-old age group. Hitchcock also broke the team record in the 400-yard IM which was set back in 2014 by Sam McHugh.
Fourteen-year-old Hayden Vicknair had an outstanding meet. He claimed second in the 50-free, 100-free, 200-fly, and 100-yard butterfly events. His time of 52.06 in the 100-yard butterfly was also a new 13-14 team record. The previous record was held by Nick Huffstutter (52.98) which was set back in 1994. Younger sister Lily Vicknair swam to a first-place finish in the 10 & Under 50-yard breaststroke clocking a time of 36.76. She also had third-place finishes in the 200 IM and 100-yard breaststroke events.
Senior and 18-year-old Sam Flack blasted a 4:19.27 in the 500-yard freestyle to take second overall. Flack also claimed gold in the 1650 freestyle swimming a time of 15:07.62.
Relays Propel Baylor Swim Club to Overall Team Title at 2023 SES Region 2 Championships
CHATTANOOGA, TN- On the weekend of February 17-19, 2022, over one hundred and twenty Baylor Swim Club athletes competed in the Southeastern Swimming Region 2 Championships held at the Baylor School Natatorium. Over 500 athletes from the Southeastern Swimming LSC East Region swam in the two-and-a-half-day competition. The Baylor Swim Club took the overall team title, scoring 1,578 points. Prime Aquatics finished second with 784 points, while McCallie/ GPS Aquatics claimed third with 747 points. Baylor Swim Club had ten first place finishes in the relay events over the weekend to lead the way.
Baylor School Claims Combined TISCA State Swimming & Diving Title for the 18th Consecutive Year
KNOXVILLE, TN- On Friday and Saturday, February 10-11 the Baylor School claimed the combined 2023 TISCA State Swimming & Diving Championship for the 18th consecutive year. The Baylor boys finished second in a very tight battle with the McCallie School which came down to the last relay of the meet. The Baylor School girls finished in sixth place overall in the team scores. The two-day competition featured the best high school swimmers & divers from all over the state of Tennessee. Over 1200 athletes participated in the competition which was held at the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center on the campus of the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.
Productive Competition for Baylor at the 2023 TYR Pro Swim Series Knoxville
KNOXVILLE, TN- This past week (January 11-14) Baylor Swim Club athletes Sam Flack, Josean Massucco, and Drew Hitchcock competed in the 2023 TYR Pro Swim Series Knoxville. This meet featured some of the top swimmers from all across the United States and was swum at the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatics Center on the campus of the University of Tennessee. All three of the Baylor Swim Club athletes that competed generated some finals swims at the high level long course competition.
