GREENSBORO, NC- Baylor School / Baylor Swim Club alumni and current University of Florida athlete Trey Freeman secured his space over the weekend as a member of Team USA and will compete at the 2022 FINA World Championships. Freeman was competing at the 2022 USA Swimming International Team Trials held April 26-30 at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, NC. In the 400-meter freestyle, Freeman made an epic comeback to claim second in the event and earn his spot as a member of Team USA. He finished just behind 2020 Tokyo Olympic bronze medalist Kieran Smith clocking a time of 3:46.93.

Baylor Swim Club Kicks-Off 2022 Long Course Season at ARENA Invitational
CHATTANOOGA, TN– This past weekend April 22-24, the Baylor Swim Club hosted and competed in the 2022 Arena Long Course Invitational held at the Baylor School Natatorium. Baylor had over 100 athletes participate in the two-and-a-half-day meet. Over 300 swimmers from the Knoxville, Nashville, and Middle Tennessee areas competed in the swim meet. Special congratulations to all the Baylor Swim Club athletes that participated in meet, and thank you to all the parents that volunteered their time this past weekend!

Baylor Swimming Celebrates Five Senior Athletes Making College Commitments
CHATTANOOGA, TN– On Tuesday, April 12th the Baylor Swimming program celebrated five seniors and their college commitments to continue their swimming careers. Congratulations to Caden Fritz (Auburn University), Genevieve O’Neil (Marist College), Owen Seymour (Emory & Henry College), Aidan Shaw (Rhodes College), and George Von Canon (Centre College). The Baylor Swimming family is so proud of each one of these student-athletes, and best of luck in college in the fall of 2022.

Hitchcock Leads Baylor at NCSA Junior National Championships, Boys Finish 6th and Claim 15th in the Combined Team Scores
ORLANDO, FL- This past week (March 15-19) fifteen Baylor Swim Club athletes traveled to Orlando, FL to compete in the 2022 NCSA Junior National Championships. The meet is being held at the YMCA Aquatic Center in Orlando, FL. In general, there are over 1700 swimmers in the meet representing over 250 clubs from all over the nation. The NCSA Junior National Championships is one of the top swimming competitions in the country on an annual basis for swimmers eighteen years old and under.
Baylor Wraps Up Short Course Season at Metro Divisional Championships
ATLANTA, GA- On March 18-20, over fifty Baylor Swim Club athletes, traveled to Atlanta, GA to race in the 2022 Metro Divisional Championships held at Dynamo Swim Club’s Raymond Arthur Bussard Aquatic Center. Over 500 swimmers from the states of Tennessee and Georgia competed in the two-and-a-half-day swim meet.

Hitchcock Takes the NCSA Junior National Championship in the 400 IM
ORLANDO, FL- Baylor Swim Club / Baylor School athlete Drew Hitchcock came away with the NCSA Junior National Championship in the 400-yard IM on day four of the competition. He made a furious comeback on the last 25-yards to post a time of 3:47.29 and take the title. Hitchcock joins former Baylor Swimming athletes Sam McHugh, Luke Kalizak, Kristen Vredeveld, and Trey Freeman as champions at this meet. All these athletes have gone on to win NCAA Championships and earn medals for Team USA in various international competitions.
On Wednesday evening Hitchcock put up a second-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly. His time of 1:44.81 ranks as the second-fastest tenth grader in the country in the 200-yard butterfly. Teammate Josean Massucco has also had an outstanding NCSA Junior Nationals thus far. Massucco finished sixth in the 1650-yard freestyle and seventh in the 200-yard butterfly.

Baylor Swimming Alumni Will Hunt Inducted Into the Chattanooga Sports Hall of Fame
CHATTANOOGA, TN– On Monday, March 7, 2022, Baylor School / Baylor Swimming alumni Will Hunt (Baylor School class of 1989) was inducted into the Chattanooga Sports Hall of Fame. Hunt was a two-time NISCA High School All-American at the Baylor School and Tennessee State Champion in the 50-yard freestyle in both 1988 and 1989. He helped lead the Baylor School to Tennessee State titles from 1986-to 1989.
Will Hunt swam collegiately at the University of Louisiana Monroe. He was the ULM Warhawks team captain and school record holder in the 50-yard freestyle. He was also the National Independent Conference champion in the 50-yard freestyle in 1993 and 1994.
2022 Summer Tune-Up Stroke Clinic Information Now Available
Complete information, Dates, times, and online registration are now available for Baylor Swim Club’s 2022 Summer Tune-Up Stroke Clinic for summer league swimmers. The stroke clinic will be held from May 2 – 25, 2022, on Mondays & Wednesdays from 5:00-6:00 PM at the Baylor School Natatorium.

Baylor School Wins Combined, Girls, & Boys TISCA State Swimming & Diving Championships, Sweeps Titles for 3rd Consecutive Year
NASHVILLE, TN- On Friday and Saturday, February 11-12 the Baylor School has won the combined, girls, and boys 2022 TISCA State Swimming & Diving Championships. This is the third consecutive year that the Baylor School has swept all three championships. It is the seventeenth year in a row that the Baylor School has won the combined team title, while the girls claimed their fourth state title in a row with a victory over the Girls Preparatory School. The Baylor School boys won their third consecutive state title in a tough battle over McCallie.

Solid Effort for Baylor at Southeastern Swimming Short Course Championships in Huntsville
HUNTSVILLE, AL- This past weekend (February 25-27) the Baylor Swim Club sent forty athletes to compete in the 2022 Southeastern Swimming Short Course Championships held at the Huntsville Aquatic Center in Huntsville, AL. The meet featured many of the top 14 & swimmers from the states of Tennessee, Alabama, and the panhandle of Florida.
Leading the way for the Baylor Swim Club were some big-time performances from twelve-year-old Anara Summers. She finished second in both the 200 and 500-yard freestyle events. Her time of 1:59.07 in the 200-yard freestyle was also a new Baylor Swim Club 11-12 girls team record. The previous record was set back in 2001 by Erin Simpson (2:01.57). Summers also placed fourth in the 100-yard butterfly and 200-yard IM. Drew Hitchcock claimed the Southeastern title in the open 200-yard butterfly, while teammate Josean Massucco finished second in the event.
