AUBURN, AL– This past weekend June 21-23, 2019 the over 50 Baylor Swim Club athletes traveled to Auburn, AL to compete in the 2019 Richard Quick Invitational held at the James E. Martin Aquatics Center located on the campus of Auburn University. Over 500 swimmers from all over the southeast competed in the meet. On Day 1 of the Richard Quick Invitational, Baylor Swim Club athlete Addison Smith qualified for the 2020 Olympic Team Trials in the 200-meter freestyle. She finished 1st overall in the event with a time of 2:00.86. Smith also broke the team record in the event, which was set in 2011 by Baylor School and University of California standout Kristen Vredeveld. On the final day of the meet, Smith also made the Olympic Trials qualifying time in the 200 IM. Her time of 2:17.12 also claimed the top spot in the event.

Baylor Seniors Make 2019 College Choices
Congratulations to Baylor Swim Club and/or Baylor School seniors Jack Kirby, Jameson Mitchum, and Addison Smith whom have announced their college choices for 2019. All three seniors will be continuing their swimming careers in college. Good luck to all of these seniors in their future endeavors both in and out of the pool. CASL Nights at the Races
It is once again time for another great season of CASL summer league swimming, and Nights at the Races. Below is just some information the Baylor Swimming Staff would like to pass on to you.
Every Baylor Swim Club member who participates, officiates, coaches or attends a Monday or Thursday night meet has a great opportunity to spread the word about the benefits of Baylor Swim Club and year-round swimming. Our coaches will make the rounds at many meets, but we can’t be everywhere. These Monday and Thursday night meets are a great way for all members to get involved in building our program.

Solid Performance for Baylor at Ensworth “Officially” Summer Invitational
CHATTANOOGA, TN– This past weekend May 17-19, 2019 the over 60 Baylor Swim Club athletes traveled to Nashville, TN to compete in the 2019 “Officially” Summer Invitational held at the Ensworth Natatorium. Over 400 swimmers from the states of Tennessee and Georgia competed in the swim meet.

Jameson Mitchum to Attend & Swim at Claremont McKenna College
CHATTANOOGA, TN– Baylor School / Baylor Swim Club athlete Jameson Mitchum will swim and attend Claremont McKenna College located in Claremont, California next year. On Monday, May 20th, family and friends gathered together to celebrate Jamee Mitchum’s college decision. Mitchum is a seven-year day student from Signal Mountain, TN. She is a NISCA All-American as a member of Baylor School’s 200-yard and 400-yard freestyle relays in 2017, 2018, and 2019. She was also a TISCA State finalist in both the 100-yard backstroke and butterfly events in 2017, 2018, and 2019. Below you will find more of Jameson Mitchum’s accomplishments at the Baylor School.

Porter & Waldrep Highlight Atlanta Classic Meet with 2020 Olympic Trials Qualifying Times
ATLANTA, GA- This past weekend, May 17-19 six Baylor Swim Club athletes competed in the 2019 Atlanta Classic Swim Meet. The meet features some of the top swimmers from all across the country and is being swum at the world-class Georgia Tech McAuley Aquatic Center, the home pool of the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games. The main highlights from the meet came from Cecilia Porter and Ellie Waldrep. Porter got things off to a hot start for Baylor on Friday, qualifying for the 2020 Olympic Team Trials in the 100-meter breaststroke swimming a time of 1:10.34 in the morning prelims session. She ended up taking 6th overall in the event in evening finals. Baylor School sophomore Ellie Waldrep dropped at 1:02.14 to qualify for the 2020 Olympic Team Trials in the 100-meter backstroke to finish sixth overall in a very competitive championship finals heat. She also finished eighth in the 200-meter backstroke in a new team record time of 2:16.64. The Olympic Team Trials- Swimming will be held June 21-28, 2020 at CHI Health Center in Omaha, NE.
