ATLANTA, GA- Day 2 of the Atlanta Classic Swim Meet was headlined by Baylor Swim Club / Baylor School sophomore Ellie Waldrep. She dropped at 1:02.14 to qualify for the 2020 Olympic Team Trials in the 100-meter backstroke to finish sixth overall in a very competitive championship finals heat. This is the second Baylor Swim Club athlete to qualify for Olympic Trials this weekend as Cecilia Porter made the cut in the 100-meter breaststroke on Friday. The meet features some of the top swimmers from all across the country, and is being swum at the world-class Georgia Tech McAuley Aquatic Center, the home pool of the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games. The Olympic Team Trials- Swimming will be held June 21-28, 2020 at CHI Health Center in Omaha, NE.

Cecilia Porter Qualifies for Olympic Trials In the 100 Meter Breaststroke at Atlanta Classic
ATLANTA, GA- The Baylor Swim Club got off to a hot start on Day 1 of the 2019 Atlanta Classic Swim Meet. Cecilia Porter qualified for the 2020 Olympic Team Trials in the 100-meter breaststroke swimming a time of 1:10.34 in the morning prelims session. She ended up taking 6th overall in the event in evening finals. This meet features some of the top swimmers from all across the country, and is being swum at the world-class Georgia Tech McAuley Aquatic Center, the home pool of the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games. The Olympic Team Trials- Swimming will be held June 21-28, 2020 at CHI Health Center in Omaha, NE.
Baylor Swimming Alumni Kristen Vredeveld Awarded PAC-12 Postgraduate Scholarship
BERKELEY, CA- Baylor School / Baylor Swim Club alumni Kristen Vredeveld was awarded one of two PAC-12 postgraduate scholarships based on her academic accomplishments at the University at California at Berkeley and devotion to pursuing graduate studies. She will receive a scholarship worth $9,000 and will attend law school at Boston University in the fall of 2019. Kristen has spent the last two years working for the Teach Across America Program in an inner-city school in Atlanta, GA.

Head Coach Dan Flack Attends USA Swimming National Coaches Seminar
DENVER, CO– Baylor Swim Club / Baylor School Head Coach Dan Flack traveled to Denver, CO (May 7-9) to attend the 2019 USA National Team Coaches Seminar. This will be the second year in a row that Flack attended the elite coaches conference.
Only the top 1% of coaches in USA Swimming are invited to this conference. Coach Flack was invited to this seminar based on placing athletes on the USA Swimming National and National Junior teams over the past few years. He participated in lectures and seminars as USA Swimming will be preparing for the 2020 Olympic Team Team Trials in Omaha, and the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.

The 2019 Long Course Season Gets Underway for Baylor at Arena Invitational
CHATTANOOGA, TN– This past weekend April 26-28, 2019 the Baylor Swim Club hosted and competed in the 2019 Arena Long Course Invitational held at the Baylor School Natatorium. Baylor Swim Club had over 100 athletes participate in the two and a half day meet. Over 600 swimmers from the states of Tennessee, Georgia, and Alabama competed in the swim meet. Special congratulations to all the Baylor Swim Club athletes that participated in meet, and thank you to all the parents that volunteered their time this past weekend!
Baylor Swim Club’s Addison Smith started the meet in record setting fashion in the 400 meter IM. Smith swam a time of 4:55.62 breaking the open long course team record in the event. The previous record was held by Savannah Napier which was set back in 2010.

Team Records Fall In Solid Performance for Baylor at NCSA Junior National Championships
ORLANDO, FL– During the week of March 19-24, eighteen Baylor Swim Club athletes competed in the 2019 National Club Swimming Association (NCSA) Junior National Swimming Championships at the Orlando YMCA Aquatic Center in Orlando, Florida. This is one of the top swimming competitions in the country on an annual basis for swimmers eighteen years old and under. In general, there are over 1700 swimmers in the meet representing over 250 clubs from all over the nation. This will be the twelfth year in a row that Baylor Swim Club will send athletes to this competition, and eighteen athletes are also the largest contingent of Baylor Swim Club athletes to qualify and compete in this meet. Over the course of the four and a half day competition, five Baylor Swim Club team records were broken, the girls finished seventh overall in the team scores, and they took eleventh in the combined team scores.
Porter Leads Baylor on Day 2 of NCSA Junior National Championships, Qualifies for Summer Nationals
ORLANDO, FL- The Baylor Swim Club had some great performances on Day 2 of the NCSA Junior National Championships in Orlando, FL, but none was better than Cecilia Porter in the 100-yard breaststroke. Her time of 1:00.58 has qualified her for the USA Swimming Phillips 66 National Championships in the 100-yard breaststroke. She finished third overall in the event and swam a new Baylor Swim Club team record. Porter broke her own team record which was set earlier this year at the TISCA State Championships in Nashville. She will now compete at the Phillips 66 USA Swimming National Championships this summer July 30- August 4 at the Stanford Avery Aquatics Center in Palo Alto, CA. Addison Smith to Attend and Swim at Princeton University
CHATTANOOGA, TN– Baylor School / Baylor Swim Club athlete Addison Smith will swim and attend Princeton University located in Princeton, New Jersey next year. Smith is a four-year boarding student from Knoxville, TN, and a twelve-time NISCA All-American. In January at the TYR Pro-Swim Series at Knoxville, she qualified for the 2020 Olympic Team Trials in the 400-meter freestyle. She finished 11th overall with a time of 4:16.82. The Olympic Team Trials- Swimming will be held June 21-28, 2020 at CHI Health Center in Omaha, NE. Smith is also a two-time TISCA State Champion in the 500-yard freestyle, claiming victories in 2018 and 2019. Below you will find more of Addison Smith’s accomplishments at the Baylor School.

Baylor Swim Club Takes Overall Team Title at SES Region 2 Championships
CHATTANOOGA, TN- On the weekend of February 15-17, 2019, over one hundred Baylor Swim Club athletes hosted and competed in the Southeastern Swimming Region 2 Championships held at the Baylor School Natatorium. Over 500 swimmers from the Southeastern Swimming LSC East Region swam in the two and a half day competition. The Baylor Swim Club took the overall team title, scoring 1,720.50 points. McCallie/GPS Aquatics finished second with 645.50 points, while Ooltewah Swim Club claimed third with 540.50 points.

Baylor School Wins Combined, Girls 2019 TISCA State Swimming & Diving Championships
NASHVILLE, TN- On Friday and Saturday, February 8-9 the Baylor School has won the combined and girls 2019 TISCA State Swimming & Diving Championships. This is the fourteenth year in a row that the Baylor School has won the combined team title, while the girls claimed the state title with a narrow six point victory over Harpeth Hall. The Baylor Girls defeated the defending state and national champions from 2018. This is the first time since 2013 that the Baylor School girls have won the TISCA State Title. The Baylor School boys finished third overall just behind the McCallie School and Maryville High School.
