COLORADO SPRINGS, CO– On Wednesday, October 3rd, USA Swimming announced the honorees for the third-annual 18 & Under World 100, recognizing many of the nation’s top up-and-coming swimmers for their performances in 2018. Baylor Swim Club / Baylor School alumni Trey Freeman was named to the 18 & Under World 100 program ranked 14th in the nation, and has a world ranking of 6th in the 400 freestyle. He was ranked 7th in the nation in 2017, and had a world ranking of 5th in the 400 meter freestyle. In 2016 he was ranked 28th in the nation, and had a world ranking of 23rd in the 400 meter freestyle. Freeman is currently a freshman swimming at the University of Florida.

HATTANOOGA, TN- On Sunday, September 30th Baylor TRI-Masters swimmer Karla Vradenburgh came out victorious in 18-24 age group female division in the IRONMAN Chattanooga Triathlon. She finished the bike and run portions of the race in a total time of 9:46.36. Unfortunately, due to unsafe conditions in the Tennessee River, the swimming portion of the race was canceled. With her finish in IMChattanooga, she has qualified to race in the IRONMAN World Championships in Kona, HI in October.

CHATTANOOGA, TN– This past weekend, September 22-23, the Baylor Swim Club hosted and competed in the 2018 Fall Kick-Off Classic held at the Baylor School Natatorium. One Hundred and fifteen Baylor Swim Club athletes participated in the two day meet. Over 300 athletes from the states of Tennessee and Georgia competed in the swim meet. Baylor Swim Club senior athletes Ellie Waldrep and Cecilia Porter broke Baylor School Natatorium Pool Records over the two-day competition. Waldrep blasted a 54.67 in the 100 backstroke to break Ashley Cusano’s record of 55.68 set in 2018. Porter dropped a 1:03.80 in the 100 breaststroke to break Allison Lusk‘s record of 1:04.59 from back in 2008. Special congratulations to all the new Baylor Swim Club athletes that participated in their first ever year-round swim meet, and to all the parents that volunteered their time this past weekend!

CHATTANOOGA, TN- USA Swimming released the roster for its 2017-2018 Scholastic All-America Team, and two Baylor Swim Club / Baylor School student athletes were selected for this honor.
Making the Scholastic All–America team from Baylor are rising senior Addison Smith and alumni Trey Freeman. Freeman is currently a freshman swimming at the University of Florida.

Baylor Swim Club / Baylor School Head Coach Dan Flack was named to the 2018-2019 USA Swimming National Team coaches roster. Coach Flack was selected as a national team coach based on Trey Freeman’s performances over the last year. In August of 2018, Flack was the Head Coach of the Men’s National Junior team at the Junior Pan Pacific Championships. The competition held on the islands of Fiji saw the USA National Junior Team capture twenty individual gold medals, five relay gold medals, twenty-one silver medals, and five bronze medals.

ATLANTA, GA- Over the Labor Day Holiday weekend (Aug. 31 – Sept. 3) Baylor Swim Club / Baylor School athletes Lydia Bohannon and Ellie Waldrep attended the 2018 LEAD (Leadership, Empowerment, and Athletic Development) Summit held at the Georgia Tech Hotel & Conference Center in Atlanta, GA. The LEAD Sports Summit is a yearly summit that connects young female swimmers with Olympic Champions and Specialists throughout a four day all-inclusive event.

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO- On Tuesday, September 4th USA Swimming announced that Baylor Swim Club / Baylor School alumni Trey Freeman had been selected as a member of the 2018-2019 National Team. Freeman was selected to the team based on his performance in the 400 meter freestyle at the 2018 Phillips 66 National Championships this summer in Irvine, CA. He claimed fifth overall in a time of 3:49.90. In the morning prelims session on Sat., Freeman swam to a personal best time of 3:49.02 which earned him a spot in the championship final.

CHATTANOOGA, TN- The Baylor School Boys and Girls Varsity Swimming & Diving teams were named by the National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association (NISCA) as 2017-2018 National Independent School Dual Meet Champions. The NISCA awards program is based on submitted team results of high school athletes (grades 9-12) that are translated into power points. A total of 349 high school teams from across the nation participated in the national dual meet ranking system this year. There were only two double winners this season, and the Baylor School was recognized as one of those teams. The only other team to take the boys and girls titles was Carmel High School (Carmel, IN) in the public school division.

Last year at the Phillips 66 National Championships Freeman claimed 18 & Under National Titles in both the 200 and 400 freestyle events. Due to his performances at this competition he will earn a spot on either USA’s 2019 World Unviersity Games Team (July 3-14 in Naples, ITA) or the 2019 Pan American Team (July 26- Aug. 11 in Lima Peru).
